Last week, fantasy author Donita K. Paul shared about her reading habits and some titles she’s recently read. Today, I’d like to open up the floor for people to talk about what they’ve been reading of late. Maybe we’ll all find some new titles for our “to-read” stack!
A few books I’ve recently read or am reading:
Book of Days by James Rubart
At first, I struggled to engage with the protagonist, but once I got past that, the intriguing storyline and high stakes grabbed me. It blended elements of mystery, suspense, and speculative into one interesting novel.
Invasion by JS Lewis
I’ll admit, this one wasn’t my type of story. It seemed geared toward the stereotypical teen boy, with lots of action and little character development. To me, it felt like a comic book turned into a novel (and apparently it does have a comic book tie-in).
On Stories: And Other Essays on Literature by CS Lewis
I’m loving this so far. Any writer (or avid reader, for that matter) will likely find something thought-provoking in this book. If you enjoy Lewis’s works, definitely check this out.
A novel I have on order:
Tyger, Tyger by Kersten Hamilton
An interview with the author on Jeff Chapman’s blog got me interested in this fantasy novel, written by a Christian author for the mainstream market. I look forward to reading it!
So now I’d like to hear from you. Have you read any good stories recently? Or not-so-good books? Any upcoming releases you especially anticipate? Please share!

January 31, 2011 - 3:32 pm ·I’m actually in the middle of Book of Days right now. So far, I’m really enjoying it. I liked his other book, Rooms, so I’m sure this one will be good.
