On the whole, I prefer engaging with story through the written word, rather than film. Because of that, I usually skip past the “behind the scenes” segments on DVDs, and I almost ignored the video blog on the production of The Hobbit. However, due my interest in the story and the inordinate number of people recommending the clip on Facebook, I gave in and watched this mini documentary by Peter Jackson, which gives an insider view into the first stages of filming The Hobbit.
Apparently, he plans to video blog throughout the entire two or three year production period, and I have to say, he makes the creative process of filming a movie intriguing. It piqued my interest in the coming film as well, which I’m sure was the desired effect.
Did you enjoy taking a glimpse behind the scenes? What do you think of video blogging the filming process?
